Rev. John Gill is a graduate of Yale Divinity School with over 20 years of experience as a pastor, teacher and community leader. He is especially interested in fresh approaches to Christian theology, interfaith dialogue and environmental ethics. In addition to his work at Church of the Savior, John currently serves in leadership positions with the Justice Knox, Interfaith Worker Justice of East Tennessee, the Welcoming Immigrants Network, and the AL-TN Association of the United Church of Christ.

Carol Zinavage Shane’s first job was as music director for Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesville, NC, when she was 16. She has been at Church of the Savior UCC since 2016.
 
In between she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from Maryville College and a Master’s Degree in Piano Accompanying from Cincinnati Conservatory; served as coach/accompanist for Knoxville Opera Company and UT Opera Theatre; was Principal Keyboardist for the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra from 1985-2016; played recitals and concerts of every stripe in many states; played electric bass professionally in the House Rockers, a rockabilly band in Knoxville during the 1980s; directed, played and composed for numerous musical theater productions, including a 100% original musical pageant for a Japanese girls’ summer camp; was music director at the Knoxville Church of Religious Science and the Center for Creative Thought in Asheville; composed, produced and performed on a CD with her wife Emily, resulting in a tour of California and other western states; played with numerous Broadway touring companies in Knoxville performances of MAMMA MIA, WHITE CHRISTMAS, BEAUTIFUL and others; performed with the Moody Blues; did shtick with Martin Short; shared a piano with Henry Mancini and, once, when she was 44, played Lucy in a production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” She’s really, really tired. Now she’s a writer for the Shopper News and is thrilled to be at COSUCC.
